Manage specialist literature. Not your backlog.
In a one-person library (OPL), you handle cataloguing, research and acquisitions on your own. Librario takes the manual drudgery off your hands with a cloud library that is ready to use from day one and gets your colleagues started in minutes.
Your working day today
You type up metadata while your inbox overflows
Ten new specialist books, a stack of PDFs from the last conference and three new standards. To catalogue them properly, you open publisher websites, copy titles, type up author names and maintain an Excel spreadsheet or an outdated desktop system.
Meanwhile, the requests keep coming. The R&D department urgently needs a study from last week, someone on the project team reports a missing DOI, and someone else asks to borrow a copy. You manage it all through emails, quick words in the corridor and your own to-do lists.
You are the only person in the organisation with the full picture. That makes you indispensable, and it also makes you the bottleneck. While routine work and email ping-pong tie you up, there is no time left for strategic collection development. The backlog grows.
Imagine
A library system that does the groundwork for you
A new delivery arrives. You drag the PDFs into your browser. Librario reads the title, authors and year from the files on its own. It fetches anything missing straight from databases, using the ISBN or DOI. No more typing by hand.
From now on, your users do their own research. A full-text search that finds even complex German technical terms inside attached PDFs catches most routine requests before they reach you.
For complex research, Librario goes one step further. Through its built-in MCP server (Team and Business plans), your users connect AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT straight to your library. The AI searches your vetted holdings, reads PDFs and gives answers grounded in the specialist literature you actually hold.
Your specialist departments organise themselves along the way: project teams set up their own collections for their working groups and share them. Looking after the literature becomes shared work, and your expertise scales.
Your own to-dos fall into place: instead of emails and sticky notes, a built-in Kanban board organises your day. Error reports from users arrive straight on the board as tasks, visible to your library team, each with a clear status and due date. Loan requests, an option on our custom plans, arrive the same way.
