Librario in action
A tour of everyday work with Librario, shown at an engineering firm. In corporate libraries and research teams the workflow is the same: how a team finds specialist literature and how new literature gets into the system. Pick the perspective that interests you.
Tour 1 · Day to day
Search, find, carry on working
1. Search all your holdings
One term is enough. Librario searches titles, metadata and the full text of every PDF. It also splits German compound words, so a search for “Betoninstandsetzung” (concrete repair) finds the right results too.
2. Open the right publication
Every result leads to the full record: metadata, keywords and the attached PDF file.
3. Browse the team’s working collection
Topic collections such as the working collection “Handapparat Betonsanierung” (the concrete repair literature a project team keeps to hand) bring together the literature that matters for a project or a discipline, maintained jointly by the team.
Did you know?
You can optimise scanned documents for full-text search. The guide to optimising files for full-text search explains how.
Tour 2 · Cataloguing
New acquisitions catalogued fast
1. Add a book by ISBN
A new book arrives. You enter the ISBN, and Librario creates the catalogue entry for you, with title, contributors, edition and, where available, the table of contents. You check the details in the record afterwards, without typing anything up.
2. A QR code for each hard copy
Hard copies are the physical books, journals and other media in your library. Librario generates a QR code for every one of them. Once the label is on the copy, scanning the code opens the copy’s page, where users can borrow or request it.
3. Import proceedings volumes as PDFs
Drag whole proceedings volumes, for example from the “Baustatik und Baupraxis” conference, into the import area as PDF files. Librario creates one publication per file and reads the metadata and full text from it automatically.
Did you know?
How the PDF import recognises metadata, and what to watch for with scanned files, is described in the guide to importing PDF files.
