# Collections

Users can **create collections of publications** themselves and **share them with other users**.

Collections serve different purposes:

- An engineering firm uses them **to model its “Handapparate”**, the working collections of literature its teams keep to hand.
Specialists maintain curated collections of the most important literature on a subject.
That helps new colleagues get up to speed on a topic quickly, or communicates the company’s “state of the art” clearly.
- A medical technology company uses collections to **share** the results of partly outsourced **literature research** with its scientists.
